About MJ
I'm not the kind of therapist who just nods and takes notes. I believe in showing up fully — with honesty, empathy, and tools that actually help.
a Registered Psychotherapist with over six years of clinical experience—and nearly a decade of supporting youth, adults, and families navigating complex mental health and life challenges. I’ve worked in live-in treatment homes, community mental health programs, and outpatient hospital settings, supporting people through anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, identity shifts, and systemic stressors.
But beyond credentials, what shapes me most is how I live: I’m a parent, an immigrant, and someone who values the emotional, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of our lives. I bring a layered lens — one that understands the nuance of navigating multiple identities, expectations, and communities.
My practice is grounded in empathy, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care. I integrate a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy, always adapting to what you need most in the moment.
I know what it means to rebuild, to adapt, and to carry untold stories. That’s why I do this work: to offer a space where all parts of you are seen — not just the parts you think are “acceptable.”
My Approach
Grounded in Science. Rooted in Respect. Powered by Your Voice.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic framework. That means I don’t just treat symptoms — I consider the full context of your life: your history, culture, family, spirituality, and community to get to the core issues.
I integrate evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy with deep listening and practical strategies that fit you. I hold space for stories that are complex, layered, and sometimes messy — because that’s what real healing looks like.
Whether we’re working through anxiety, anger, spiritual tension, or life transitions, therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and deeply human.

What to Expect
Real conversations, real tools — at your pace.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s not your first time — or if you've tried before and felt misunderstood. Here's what it's like to work with me:
We begin with a free 15-minute consult to see if we’re a good fit. From there, the first few sessions focus on getting to know you — not just what’s wrong, but what’s happened. I want to understand your story, not squeeze you into a checklist.
Our sessions are 50 minutes long and usually held weekly or biweekly -depending on your needs. Some people come for a few months to work through a specific challenge; others stay longer for deeper focus. There’s no one-size-fits-all plan — therapy moves at your pace.
I use approaches like CBT (to challenge unhelpful patterns), DBT (to build emotional resilience), and Narrative Therapy (to help you rewrite your story). These are tools — not rigid formulas — and we’ll choose what works best for you.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting. Your role is to show up — as you are. My role is to listen, guide, challenge when needed, and create a space where breakthroughs can actually happen.
If you’re feeling stuck, tired of repeating the same cycles, or like nothing else has worked — you’re in the right place.
Therapy with me is honest, collaborative, and grounded in respect. We’ll go at a pace that feels doable, and we’ll celebrate progress — even the small wins — together.
FAQs
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes! I offer secure, confidential virtual therapy to clients anywhere in Ontario. You can attend sessions from the comfort of your own space.
How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?
Great question. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consult. It’s a no-pressure way to connect, ask questions, and see how it feels to talk with me.
Do you work with children?
I work primarily with youth aged 12 and up, young adults, adults, and parents. For younger children, I’m happy to refer to trusted colleagues.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
If you have extended health benefits, sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) are often covered. Check your provider for details.
How long will therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some clients see me for 3–6 months, others longer. We’ll revisit this together so it stays aligned with what you need.
Do you integrate faith/spirituality into therapy?
If it’s important to you, absolutely. I’m comfortable holding space for faith-based questions, tensions, or exploration. If it’s not your focus, that’s completely fine too.
What issues do you NOT work with?
At this time, I do not provide court-mandated therapy, psychiatric assessments, Intimate Partner Violence, specific phobias, Eating Disorder, or treatment for active substance use disorders.

Still Wondering if Therapy is Right For You?
That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out to take the first step. Reach out — I’ll meet you where you are.
